BTC Group's vivatel, will be the first mobile operator in the country to provide Internet Protocol-based multimedia and voice experience.

Nokia Siemens Networks is providing vivatel with its IP Multimedia Subsystem platform and mobile Voice over IP application server (NVS) for advanced and cost-effective convergent services. With the Nokia Siemens Networks customer-optimized end-to-end solution, vivatel subscribers will be able to access a whole range of all-IP convergent services including mobile, fixed-line and Internet telephony services (voice, data and multimedia) with a single phone number, as well as a broadband Internet access and range of video applications, presence, interactive gaming or conference facilities.

Alexander Dimitrov, Chief Commercial Officer of BTC Group said: "Our company has repeatedly proved its leadership in providing state-of-the-art services and the entry into convergent IMS-based services is a natural thing. The solution from Nokia Siemens Networks will help us consolidate our leadership and strengthen our position to counteract cheap VoIP services, adding rich media communications on top of it."

Under the contract, vivatel will also be equipped with the mobile softswitch-based Nokia Siemens Networks VoIP Server and the Communication Suite, a rich call application for PCs that interoperates with mobile devices, for cost-effective VoIP telephone services. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks will provide network and service management, including profile management for provisioning new, converged services.

In anticipation of the future growth of peer-to-peer (P2P) traffic resulting from new services, Nokia Siemens Networks will supply data traffic control with its Flexi ISN solution, a flexible packet-core platform that can be used to manage bandwidth allocation for different applications, subscription and access types and to ensure fair use of networks resources, and quality and availability of services. Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide implementation and integration services.

Dietmar Appeltauer, Head of Central East Europe at Nokia Siemens Networks stated: "This is an extremely exciting and important deal for Nokia Siemens Networks in Bulgaria and globally, as it once more shows our leadership in the field of convergent solutions, and underlines the trust our customers have in our ability to provide new revenue-generating solutions for them."
